The Goldsboro City Council voted 5 to 2 Monday night in favor of annexing the Fallingbrook community.

That means Goldsboro will annex the homes of 300 Wayne County residents in that area.

People in the community protested Monday afternoon, saying they don't need any of the city services. They say their property taxes are expected to double and the only new service they'll get is the city police.

Currently, the sheriff's department services the community, but the mayor of Goldsboro said annexation is a necessity.

Fallingbrook residents are already planning to file an appeal Tuesday morning.
