IMPORTANCE OF ANNEXATION AUTHORITY – Commissioner La Briestated the Board had been requested by the North Carolina League of Municipalities to consider expressing support of their position on annexation. The North Carolina Legislature is back in session and apparently there is an effort to limit or restrict the ability of a city or town to annex property outside their limits. There are two sides to the issue, which was discussed at length this morning. Pine Knoll Shores is not really directly involved because there is really nothing left to annex. Commissioner Hunter made a motion to support the North Carolina League of Municipalities position of keeping the right to annex with the Municipalities. Commissioner Kanyha seconded the motion. The motion carried on a vote of 3 in favor and 2 against - Commissioners La Brie and Ashland.
