The Board of Commissioners of the Town of Pine Knoll Shores

met Tuesday, February 8, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. in the Town Hall

meeting room for their Regular Meeting. Present were Mayor

Lamson, Commissioners Ashland, Danehy, Hunter, Kanyha and La

Brie. Also present were Town Attorney Whitford, Town

Administrator Carr, Director of Inspections and Public Property

Jones, Assistant to Director of Inspections and Public Property

Brickhouse, Police Chief Culpepper, Acting Director of Emergency

Services Flynt, Tax Collector Shelton, interested citizens, news

media and Town Clerk Lambert. Finance Officer Hasulak was absent.

IMPORTANCE OF ANNEXATION AUTHORITY Commissioner La Brie

stated the Board had been requested by the North Carolina League

of Municipalities to consider expressing support of their

position on annexation. The North Carolina Legislature is back in

session and apparently there is an effort to limit or restrict

the ability of a city or town to annex property outside their

limits. There are two sides to the issue, which was discussed at

length this morning. Pine Knoll Shores is not really directly

involved because there is really nothing left to annex.

Commissioner Hunter made a motion to support the North

Carolina League of Municipalities position of keeping the right

to annex with the Municipalities. Commissioner Kanyha seconded

the motion. The motion carried on a vote of 3 in favor and 2

against - Commissioners La Brie and Ashland.
