Here is a suggestion for everyone across NC who cares
about this issue.
Bob Pleasants of Wayne County suggested something like
this months ago and now Jerry from Forsyth suggested it to me recently.
Jerry has been encouraging people to send postcards to legislators with
a simple message asking for reform.
After all the emails and phone calls
that the legislators have received, this seems like an idea that would
be perfect at this time. If thousands of people from across NC would
send a postcard to five key legislators, it would be hard to ignore and
would emphasize the commitment of people across the State to annexation
reform.
It would be an underline of emphasis of our demand for reform.
Please consider sending these postcards to:
Senator Basnight, NC Senate 16 W. Jones Street, Room 2007 Raleigh, NC 27601-2808
Senator Rand, NC Senate 300 N. Salisbury Street, Room 300-C
Raleigh, NC 27603-5925
Rep. Hackney, NC House of Representatives 16 W. Jones Street, Room 2304
Raleigh, NC 27601-1096
Simply say that you are asking them to pass legislation that restores
1) a meaningful voice to the people,
2) meaningful County oversight of city initiated annexations, and
3) clearer rules about providing truly meaningful services.
